    What future trends is BJSS predicting for the banking sector in 2022?
    We regularly publish market commentary and future predictions for the industry. Banks are at different stages of their transformation journeys, so it’s difficult to apply broad predictions, but in general, 2022 will see many areas of interest such as digital channels getting to full product and service parity with other channels, renewed focus on modernisation and cost optimisation, a step change in cloud usage to gain true value in areas such as the use of native services, and data and analytics, more traction in embedded finance and ecosystem partnerships and a continued focus on sustainability.
    Where do we start when modernising our core banking systems?
    There are a range of legacy core banking solutions and modern alternatives to choose from, and we find that banks are taking a range of different approaches to modernise from upgrades to their existing core systems, to undergoing a rebuilding/monolith microservices conversion and migration to cloud-based BaaS solutions. Where to start is to clearly understand your business objectives and current state technology estate so that you can plot an optimised incremental path to modernisation.
