    Background...

We’ve got a great team and have built our reputation across a variety of different clients and projects. I’m now excited to see us continue to grow even further.”

One of our Technology Consultants, Josh Hewer, tells us how he got into the industry, what a typical project looks like for him and reflects on his proudest achievements at BJSS.

After university, I worked in local government benchmarking, across a variety of technology services. I found that I really enjoyed explaining the results of the benchmarking and making future recommendations, so I became an Industry Analyst. Then when a role came up in Technology Consulting at BJSS, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to get to do even more of the bits I liked.

what does a typical project look like as a technology consultant?

I’m currently working on a technology assessment for an assisted digital service for the NHS. It’s a collaborative project with a hybrid team of me as the Technology Consultant and then three Business Consultants. It’s been great to work alongside them to understand the business and user needs, and then assess the technology options to meet them.

However, I’d say my favourite project since joining BJSS, was assessing whether a company’s IT operations were delivering good value for money. It was a challenging question to answer, with opposing opinions from differing stakeholders, but we really got to dig into the detail of how their IT department worked.

What is your proudest achievement at BJSS?

I joined BJSS in the early days of Technology Consulting, so I’d say one of the things I am most proud of is how the service has developed. We’ve got a great team and have built our reputation across a variety of different clients and projects. I’m now excited to see us continue to grow even further!

In a more minor way, I recently gave a presentation to the BJSS London office about persuasive writing and presenting. Following the session, some of the attendees from the BJSS Academy (our graduate training program) approached me for further coaching and I was able to help them shape their presentations for a project they were working on. I’m proud to think I had even a small impact on their career.
