We heard from retail experts at BJSS, Microsoft and Co-op about how data is transforming how brands learn, act and adapt to a rapidly changing retail marketplace. In this session our speakers spoke about changes in the world of data in retail today, what trends are currently emerging and how to take advantage of them, and finally we looked forward to the future of retail in a data driven world.

Filled with real world examples, and practical tips on how to leverage existing data sets, generate new insights and quickly act on the findings, the three sessions demonstrated how quickly data can be embedded into your retail strategy for 2021 and beyond.



Rob Wadsworth – Head of Data Engineering, The Co-op

Rob is an experienced digital product leader with a passion for data, who leads the Co-op’s Data Engineering team across all aspects of the Co-op business. Rob and the team have built a cutting edge data platform that will underpin all future data initiatives at the Co-op, across all of its businesses and internal functions, driving a radical change in the way the business approaches business intelligence and analytics enabling huge leaps forward in machine learning and real-time decision support.

Louise Watkins – Head of Sector Retail, Consumer Goods, Travel & Transport, Microsoft

Louise Watkins is an experienced business leader focused on empowering and building the teams of tomorrow. She is currently the sector lead for Retail, Consumer Goods, Travel & Transport at Microsoft, supporting her teams and the executives within her industry serve their colleagues and customers in a data driven way that drives value and growth through new customer experiences, digital innovation, and new business model and value expansion.

Ralph Robinson – Head of Retail & Consumer Markets, BJSS

Ralph Robinson is an experienced retail advisor, having worked in house at Tesco, Lidl and dunnhumby, and consulted with a breadth of retail brands across retail technology, business strategy and customer analytics. He is now Head of Retail & Consumer Markets at BJSS where he facilitates business change in retail and consumer brands across digital advisory and delivery, and data centric change programmes.
