Supporting a zero-carbon future

As a proud Carbon Neutral business, we want to support the industry to achieve its targets. We know that, to reduce the impact of climate change, we need to come together to drive sustainable transformation.

Sustainability

Considering sustainability in all our decisions

We have been Carbon Neutral since 2019. We have achieved this through internal initiatives and a group of high-quality, certified offsets focusing on local communities. Our aim is to continue to drive decarbonisation efforts not just internally, but among our clients and partners, too.

As we grow, we'll continue to consider sustainability and our environmental impact in all our decisions, from environmentally innovative office spaces and minimising waste to conserving water and offsetting our emissions.

What we’re doing

Greenfield Conservation

Our conservation programme in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. We’re developing a plan to enrich this area with vegetation and return it to how it was over 400 years ago.

Sustainability Services

We work with organisations to help them achieve their net-zero ambitions by designing, delivering, and embedding sustainability and digital technology across their entire value chain.

Community Outreach

We work with local communities to increase carbon literacy and skills through initiatives such as our Zero Carbon Hackathons.

More Sustainable Workplaces

We’re reducing the environmental impact of our operations through the design of our offices and ways of working. And we’re working with suppliers to drive sustainable practices in our supply chain.

BJSS and our Environmental Pledge

As a leader within our field, we take our responsibility to the environment very seriously. We will continue to use our position to contribute to sustainability through technology.

Led by our Sustainability Steering Group, our aim is to continue our work with the BJSS teams to drive the decarbonisation efforts of BJSS and our overarching Net Zero 2025 goal. We have been Carbon Neutral since 2019, achieved through internal initiatives and a group of high-quality, certified offsets focusing on local projects and communities. We will also use our position as a technology business to positively promote digital communication and flexible working.

At BJSS, we have always considered the environment in our policies and office location choices - it’s ingrained in our behaviour. For us, sustainability is not simply about public image, we genuinely care and want to ensure that we're always considering the environment and doing the right thing.

As a further example of our environmental commitment, we have invested in, and are currently rolling out, an exciting Greenfield conservation programme. This site in the Yorkshire Dales, which is partly made up of a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), will provide another great opportunity for BJSSers to get involved in the delivery of this important initiative. Together with local farmers and conservation charities, we’ll be looking at ways to enrich the SSSI with longer-term plans to plant woodland in the neighbouring area.
