The world is at a tipping point. To reduce the impacts of climate change, the global community needs to come together to limit temperatures to 1.5C above pre-industrial levels, as stated in the Paris Agreement. And we know how to do it.
Carbon emissions must be slashed by 45% by 2030, and net-zero must be reached by 2050.
Since 2019, we have been a carbon-neutral business, and our goal is to become a net positive business in the future. We’ll help our clients, partners, communities, and colleagues reduce their carbon footprints and make the necessary changes to become more sustainable.
Underpinning our mission to net zero is our conservation programme in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. We’re working to develop a plan to enrich this area with vegetation and return it to how it was over 400 years ago. And BJSS colleagues and partners will be playing a part.
The International Telecommunications Union estimates that digital technology could help reduce global carbon emissions by about 17%. We’ll work with organisations to help them achieve their net-zero ambitions by designing, delivering, and embedding sustainability and digital technology across their entire value chain.
We’ll work with local communities to increase carbon literacy and skills through initiatives such as our Zero Carbon Hackathons.
We’ll reduce the environmental impact of our operations, offices, and people. We’ll conserve resources through the design of our offices and ways of working. And we’ll work with suppliers to drive sustainable practices throughout our supply chain.
