BJSS Supports 2016 HackManchester Junior Youth Hack

BJSS the award-winning, delivery-focused IT and business consultancy has joined forces with HackManchester to support its popular HackManchester Junior coding competition.

Set over two days in Manchester, with support from expert mentors, the hackathon aims to develop digital skills by providing challenges for teams of 13 to 17 year-olds to solve. The BJSS challenge involves participants identifying Open Source and Commercial software products and then creating a 'Top Trumps' style game to assess their strengths and weaknesses.

Claire Foster of HackManchester, explains: “Hack events give young people the problem-solving, teamwork and invention skills they’ll need to work in the digital industry. So it’s crucial that local companies set and judge the challenges. BJSS’ support gives hackers the chance to work on real-life tech problems and get expert feedback from professionals working in the field.  It’s the best way to prepare them to help create the digital future."

Matt Whalley, Service Delivery Manager at BJSS Manchester, continues: “HackManchester Junior plays an important role in building the skills of the next generation of Manchester’s IT talent. BJSS is proud to support HackManchester Junior and we look forward to seeing how the teams approach the challenges.”
