Trader Support
Working for a leading European Investment Bank, BJSS solved the practical problem of consolidating data from multiple feed sources and making the information available for a browser display. The information content in question includes all aspects of corporate actions, such as mergers, take-overs, dividend payments (both historic and predicted). Users can configure preferences for Web display and tailor information displays to their own requirements. A sophisticated rules driven engine reduces error rates with highlights of feed discrepancies where multiple sources of the same data occur. Front and back office operations have achieved significant efficiency gain from the consolidated Web pages in their trading and position monitoring activity.
Current feeds implemented include Bloomberg, Telekurs, Valorinform and many internal Corba based feeds. Several others are planned.
Technology involved includes Windows NT, Visual C++, SQL Server 6.5 for source/sink processing and Microsoft IIS, ASP and JavaScript and VBScript for Web information display. Corba interfaces are provided and used into internal systems.
The project has been so successful, that a second phase of development has started utilising TIBCO ETX (for broadcast changes) and for source/sink provision, XML (for standardised data representation) and Java 2 (EJB) for all business logic. The data when published in this ETX/XML form will then be used by many sinks within the bank.
